vpn client's idle bandwidth usage

hi,

as you may know, after connecting to the vpn, the client software uses ~3-5 KBps of bandwidth continuously all the time (i think it's for keeping the connection up); even when the user is not using the internet and the vpn connection is idle.

is there any way to stop this or to make the software to use less bandwidth for keeping the connection alive (or whatever it's using that bw for)? --enabling or disabling the "keep alive internet connection function" on server and/or client doesn't make any difference.

for the people who are on internet services with limited amount bandwidth, such thing means at least +300~+400MB of bw wasted every 24hours...!

i tested two same server from 1 client
when i connected to a server with 1 online users
the download transfer rate in client was: 1 kb/s
but when i connected to other server with 110 online users,
the download transfer rate was: 10 to 15 kb/s !! in idle client !!

what's the problem?
the keep alive & address polling is off

You can monitor Ethernet packets on the Virtual Network Adapter, by using Wireshark.

is not any more b/w usage on vpn adapter client
i checked it and no problem on it but when i monitored the local area connection (internet network),
when i wasn't on softether vpn, the transfer rate = 0 kb/s
i connected to softEther vpn server and see the transfer rate on client = more than 3 kb/s on local area connection and i think if the server online users = more , the transfer rate of clients will more .... !

i also monitored the microsoft resouce monitor and find this
when i connected to softether, the 95% of transfer rate is for :
image: vpnclient.exe
Address: user-1 PC (my local pc)

i think there are a loop packets on client or server
and when the online users on server = more
this transfer rate on clients = more ...

i switched securenat to local bridge now , and i'll check it today
i hope this problem be resolve in generally version
because in more countries, the bandwidth is limited for users
and bandwidth usage is important for users

Reducing Broadcast Packets

If several hundreds of computers are connected on the single Ethernet segment via VPN, the number of broadcast packets will be increased by default. In such a case, turn this policy on to block all broadcast packets except ARP, DHCP and ICMPv6.

is this for ipv4 ? and if yes where can i find & enable it?

I'm having the same issue. What did you do to fix the issue? I tried to turn on the Deny Non-ARP/ DHCP broadcasts policy security option which seems to block the internet connection.
