I have set up a SoftEther VPN server on a Windows 7 machine, but not been able to connect to it.
The machine is behind a router (FiOS-G1100). I am wondering if there is log that I can check to find out why connections fail.

The obvious first questions are: have you forwarded the port through the router to your SE server ; have you also checked that the Windows firewall is not blocking your connection?

Re: How to diagnose connection issues
Thanks for trying to help, Fenice.
I first tried VPNAzure because I thought it did not require any port forwarding. After it failed, I forwarded port 992 to the Windows 7 machine running the SE server, then used the DDNS address, but failed too. Port 443 has already been used. I noticed that the following ports are being listened to from SE VPN Server Manager:
992
1194
5555
Is forwarding port 992 sufficient? Does VPNAzure also need port forwarding?
This is my first time to use SE. It appears to be a great product.
Edited:
I have tried disabling the Norton Firewall. When I use the DDNS address, I appended the port like the following:
myname.softether.net:992

What client do you use?
You can check the server logs in virtual hub dialog in SoftEther VPN server manager.
