[Solved somewhat] Windows VPN no network shares

Post by elmo » Fri Jan 20, 2017 3:31 am

Hi -

I've seen some similar posts, but haven't found the solution to my issue yet.

I used the wizard to set up a VPN on the work server. I'm using vpnazure and connecting the client using Windows 10 VPN client.

The client authenticates and connects. It gets an IP address on the office LAN. I can ping the IP address and can visit web sites on LAN IP addresses, but I cannot access shares on the LAN!

I can see my home PC on the office LAN, but I also cannot access shares on my home PC.

I have turned off the VPN server's firewall and security software, as well as the client PC software.

Has anyone had this problem and successfully overcome it?

Thanks,
Beth

Re: Using vpnazure.net, connecting via Windows VPN no networ

I need to add that I just successfully connected and am browsing the office LAN using a Windows 7 Pro machine, but am still not able to browse the network using Windows 10 Pro or Home. Can anyone suggest a possible solution? Should there be a difference?

Thanks again,
Beth

FWIW, I can access the network shares using the EtherSoft VPN client. I would still like to be able to just use the Windows 10 VPN client, so I will struggle with it until I can get it working.

Did you configure port forwarding on the router?

Yes, 443, 500, 1194, 1701, 4500, 5555.
I even tried from localhost but still failed.

UDP 500 and 4500 are required for L2TP/IPSec.
TCP 443 is required for SSTP.
Other ports aren't needed.

Could you post a server log when connection failed?

Is the log for SSTP connection?
Could you show SSTP client configuration?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

SSTP Client embedded in Windows OS is checking the server certification is signed by known authority.
Please try to add VPN server certificate to the windows key store.
