I was using Softether. Softether was showing an error window after a few hours. I have no idea when the VPN went down or if it went down and then my downloads resumed using my non VPN computer settings.

I am looking for a way to set the configuration so that all internet activity stops if the VPN goes down. Because the whole reason for the VPN is to protect my privacy. If the VPN ios going to go down, then I need a way to block all network activitt to and from my copmputer if and when the VPN goes down.

Perhaps there is a way for Softether to use a backup VPN server. So perhaps it could stop all network activity until it resumes with the VPN that had gone down or connect through a different VPN.

Please help.

There is no such feature in SE unfortunately. Although I think it is useful.

Which VPN protocol/ wwhich OS do you use? In Linux you can write a script that will turn off your network card, wheneber the vpn connection is down

I am using Windows Seven Ultimate.

Well I believe there is a way in Softether to use a proxy server.

Do you know of any good proxy servers that have goos transfer speed and are not extremely restrictive as to what they will allow to go through them?

Please delete default gateway setting from physical NIC after connecting VPN.

O.K. Is it as simple as turning it on or off or does everything in the physical nic have to be deleted and then re entered when I want to use it again?

It depends on method of configuring default gateway.
If it's DHCP, it may be restored when renewing DHCP.
If you doesn't want to change it automatically, please configure IP address statically.

Even though softether is running through a virtual VPN; it still sends data over the physical vpn; so turning the physical vpn off will also turn off the connection.
