Slow download speed uisng SoftEther Server

Post by matalqah » Thu Apr 06, 2017 11:25 am

Hi ,

I've installed SoftEther server on a windows cloud server with Uplink of 1Gbps , and also configured the windows vpn server on the same server .
when connecting my laptop to the windows VPN server . i got around 8 mbps download speed , but when connecting to SoftEther , i'm not getting more than 1mbps ( downloading the same file from the same location ) .
I'm using SecureNAT in the softether configuration .

Q. Is there any configuration that causes softether slowness ???

Thanks

If everything is same, it looks that windows VPN server used data compression, but softether client doesn't.
Try to enable the [Use Data Compression] option on the [Advanced Settings] window.

This option is a client side option instead of server option,
you can check your windows VPN client settings
and the softether client settings.

CIFS (SMB) is slow in high latency environment like WAN.
How to download the file? Did you use same method between with VPN and without VPN?
SecureNAT can be bottleneck.
