After using vpngate.net for about a year, I have concluded that the SoftEther mechanism is vastly less reliable than the ovpn method - but I don't know why.
Here's the simple time-honored software:
1. Install OpenVpn on Windows XP SP3 & download openvpn files from vpngate.net
2. Install SoftEther on Windows XP SP3 & click on "VPN Gate Public VPN Relay Servers"
Here's the time-honored results:
1. Using the *ovpn files, the connection is sometimes disrupted, but is generally reliable for at least 1/2 hour or more.
2. Using SoftEther's selection process, the connection is almost always disrupted, and is generally unreliable in the first 1/2 hour or more.
The unreliability of the SoftEther connection versus the OpenVPN connection is so common and has been happening for so long (almost a year overall) that the cause must be systemic.
Why is SoftEther abruptly disconnecting far more often than OpenVPN?
