SoftEther VPN refusing password

Post by mrproper » Mon Aug 25, 2025 6:57 pm

Hi everybody,

We've been using SoftEther VPN for a year or two now to access our company servers. This way, our users can access our ERP from home if they need to work on something urgent in the afternoon/evening.

But and issue is repeating itself for a week or two now - bunch of user's passwords are rejected, and VPN is asking for a different password. I personally set all those passwords and also set up their VPN connections, passwords weren't changed and in the end, those are passwords of our AD accs. If those passwords somehow changed, users wouldn't be able to access their workstations in the company as well.

Is there a way to fix this? For now I can only create additional users and then set them in the VPN so my colleagues could access our network, but that's really not anything, it's not a solution.

Thanks!

With over years admin work on SE(SoftEhter), SE and authentication on ADPW(AcitvieDirecotry password) works very well and easily.
Minimum (and rough) requirement is just getting SE server work as domain member.
My advice is to check basics.
- Check your ADPW woks on SE server/workstation
- Check FQDN name resolution with your AD domain and time/NTP synchronized.
