Hello. I have a weird problem that I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot.
I've successfully setup the SoftVPN server and can connect clients via IPSEC.
But if I disconnect a established session and immediately try to reconnect, I just get an error on the client side that it cannot establish a connection. I keep retrying and get errors. Sometimes I have to wait as much as a minute or so before I can establish a successful connection again, and other times it takes just 30 seconds. If I just keep retrying it eventually works, but I dont have an explanation for why there is such a long delay between reconnection attempts. Is there a setting somewhere?
I'm not sure what is causing the delay in the ability to reconnect. I would appreciate troubleshooting assistance. Thanks.

I don't have this problem when I try to connect again after establishing the VPN connection.
What OS are you using? How far is the server away from your client? What is the connection type of the internet connections of the client and the server?

Re: SoftVPN IPSEC re-connect delay
The VPN server is running on a Windows 7 system. The clients are Windows 7 or iOS, where the same thing symptoms occur regardless.
The host-based firewall on the server can either be on or off, but the same thing happens as well. The external connection is 100mpbs/10mbps down, but even if I setup the clients to connect to the VPN server on the LAN (instead of the WAN) by its local IP, the same re-connection delay occurs.

Then I have no idea. I am using Amazon Linux for the server and Windows 10 for the client.

Did you check server logs?
