Network Bonding

Post by calimansi » Mon May 06, 2013 8:36 pm

Hello,

Is it possible to use the softether server to bond multiple connections together?

I have 3 WAN connections at my home and have successfully setup the softether server on a virtual private server. Each of the WAN connections can connect to the softether server with good results in speed. Is there any way that softether can bond the WAN connections for faster throughput?

If not, is this planned in the future?

Thanks!

Hey,

To answer your network bonding using softether server, I don't think the software has been designed for that. This must be done at the OS level .

look at this : http://unixfoo.blogspot.fr/2007/10/yet-to-add.html

On the contrary, it would make more sense to implement this feature in the VPN itself.

First SoftEther has already some implementation of multiple connections.

But more importantly, it would handle the main issue of bonding across heterogeneous networks much better than traditional bonding. The main issue being out-of-order packets. The VPN could reorder packets before the TCP stack, which has never been design to handle packet reordering very well...
