SoftEther VPN - Authentication question

Post by petrov » Wed Jan 15, 2014 4:18 pm

Hi,

I try to start SSTP Server.
It works already, but need some authentication advice.

As far I understood the client connects the server in steps:
1. TCP connection on port 443 is establishing
2. SSL layer is building up
3. SSTP connection request is processing
4. PPP communication is establishing

When is the authentication occurring?
I think after PPP is established, but if so, do we need any password protection? Password is transferred in encapsulated PPP frame on secure SSL layer.

Is plain text enough?

If Windows 7 client has the option "Data Encryption" set to "No encryption", how the SoftEther Server works? No SSL? Ignores this settings?

Thank you,
petrov
