Why does the VPN Server contact servers in Japan?

Post by Elwood_G » Fri Feb 14, 2014 3:22 pm

Hello,

watching on the firewall what the host where vpnserver is running does, I found that it connects to
the server 130.158.6.77 on port 80 to register a ddns name. This I can disable in the vpn_server.config.

But I also found that it sends udp/137 NBNS Packets to 130.158.6.77 and .111 as well as packets on UDP/5004 to 130.158.6.60 and in these packets are parts of the configuration including the private IP-Address of the VPN Server. All this is transmitted in the clear without any encryption. The contents of the UDP packets seem to also be a DDNS registration and some information on how the server is reachable.

How do I disable this without creating firewall rules??

Konstantin
