Why don't file sharing protocols get along with SoftEther?

When I use Timbuktu from my Mac, SoftEther works relatively well. It's mostly stable and fast, but file sharing protocols don't fare too well. Regardless of whether I use Appleshare or Windows SMB, I either get errors or even disconnected. And this can be true while Timbuktu remains connected and working.

But I do see that SoftEther can disconnect spontaneously.

These issues are the case whether I'm running SoftEther from a Mac or Windows.

I'm using bridging and DHCP, but not NATing. Also, I am doing everything over a single NIC. That is, we have all real-world IPs, no separation between public/private part of the network.
