Which error? Post the entire error message and check the SoftEther log files for more information.

If "Error" appears in "Listener List (TCP/IP port)", then ensure that:

1. SoftEther is running with enough privileges to open the ports. SoftEther should run as the Administrator or Local System on Windows, or as root on unix systems.

2. No other process is already using those ports. 8000 is often used by proxy servers.

3. Only one SoftEther instance is running.

4. Check the logs for error messages.

IP addresses on bridged ethernet interfaces are inaccessible to VPN clients. This is described in the SoftEther documentation, and is the reason why a second ethernet interface for bridging is recommended.

It is not a matter of being new to SoftEther, it is more like you are being new to the idea of networking completely.

If you have a database server software running on the same port as SoftEther VPN server on the same node (computer), that is not possible. The same goes with anything else running or listening on port 8000. You should assign dedicated ports for each and every service you want to run.

Otherwise, elaborate on your network setup.
