I use AVG Internet Security 2015 on both server and client machines, have no problems, and have not needed to tinker with the AVG firewall.
What leads you to believe that AVG is the problem?
I'd suggest upgrading to the 2015 version of AVG (it won't do this automatically) in case older versions don't know about SoftEther.
