You cannot view you old password, however you may reset it. Log into the server, shut down manually the vpnserver, edit the server configuration file and delete the admin hash. Next time you start and try to log in, the server it will ask you to change.

Having the same issue - I've tried the steps you describe, but they do NOT work. Instead, I just get an error saying "Protocol error occurred. Error was returned from the destination server" whenever I try to connect. Please advise.

1. open Windows task manager
2. find SoftEther Server
2.1 it has a "service", right click on that and open the service
2.2 stop the service
2.3 go to next

2. open cmd as Administrator
2.1 cd into "program file" and then "softether vpn server"
2.2 in cmd type: "nodepad.exe" and press Enter
2.3 nodepad will open and in menu go to File > Open (or Control-o)
2.4 refer to "softether vpn server" path
2.5 in nodepad change the type to "all" to see "vpn_server.config" file
2.6 go to next

3. in nodepad press Control-f and search for "hashedPassword"
3.1 check the scope. it should be "declare ServerConfiguration"
3.2 delete the value of "hashedPassword"
3.3 (optional) the same is true for HUB , if you forgot that, delete its value as well
3.4 save the file
3.5 go to next

4. go back to SoftEther service you stopped
4.1 click start
4.2 go to SoftEther server manager and try to connect to localhost
4.3 it should ask for setting a new password
