L2TP with HP router

Dear everyone,

I am trying to establish a connection via L2TP from an HP router (R110) or 3com (Office Connect) (network 192.168.24.0) to a SoftEther server (192.168.1.0).

HP local IP 192.168.24.1
HP receives IP 192.168.23.100 in remote network

L3 switch on SE, virtual interfaces:
192.168.23.2
192.168.1.100

Routing from .24 to .1 is working fine, however the backward's direction last ping works at 192.168.23.100.

Normally for LAN-LAN connections (or at least if using Windows VPN), the client receives an IP in the server's network but the server will also receive an IP in the client's network (such as 192.168.24.200). I suppose this is the reason why routing from .1 to .24 does not work propoerly.

Is there any way to make Soft Ether request an IP in the client's network?

Thank you so much.

Regards
Peter

If a connection of either direction can be established, the routes are configured properly.

Please check the firewall configuration of your HP route. Make sure you allow connections forwarding from the VPN tunnel to LAN.

SoftEther can request an IP in the client's network. You will need to define the correct virtual hub when you connect to the Virtual Hub.

Dear kh tsang,

This is exactly what I need. Could you give me any indication how to make the virtual hub request an IP address in the client network?

Thank you in advance.

Peter

Make sure you have defined the correct virtual hub in the L2TP server settings.

L2TP connection can't have multiple IP address because it's a client mode session.
Please try to use L2TPv3 or EtherIP.
