Difficult to establish connection from OS X and iOS devices

I feel it very difficult to establish L2TP connection with server from OS X and iOS devices, although once the connection is established, the connection is stable and the speed is good. I can only successful establish connection to the server one or two times a day, and once I disconnect, it's very difficult to connect again.
I doubt if it's platform dependent issues.
On windows, the situation is different. There is a client on windows, so it's very easy to connect to the server using the client. However, sometimes even though the connection is established and there are outgoing and ingoing packets, I still can't open google or nytimes which are blocked in China.
There is client tool for OS X, but it has no GUI and is not recommended to use. I'm confused. If it's not recommended to use, why do you guys develop it? yeh, for experimental use. I try to use the OS X client tool, but didn't find any install manual.

Hi there,
Due to general issues and lack of L2TP connections, I would highly suggest installing and using OpenVPN instead.
