Hi hope someone can help me:

- I own a netgear readynas 102 NAS
- This devide offers the Softether VPN app which I want to activate and use (it mentions "use 14443 TCP for https management"
- My goal is to access files on the NAS remotely and to provide access to multiple users
- I do not want to use the embedded Netgear solutions (readycloud) this is why I want to use the VPN app.

I have repeatedly tried to achieve this by activating the app and downloading and installing Softether VPN software (server manager/ client) on my laptop however thusfar without any success.

Given my limited technical skills it is difficult for me to understand the softether website. Does anybody know of a step by step tutoral that leads to my required outcome?

Raafat,

After installing the app. The "Launch" option on the SE app. is greyed out so there is no indication that the SE server is active on the NAS (I guess not).

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you host a machine for SE, a raspberry pi, for instance, or you desire to work on NetGear's problem ?

Raafat,

I want to activate SE on my Netgear ReadyNAS102 device as I have 3 users with access rights to specific folders and I do not want to re-register this on another device (otherwise I would have purchased a new NAS with the right functionality).

Interesting thing is that the app is in the Netgear app store so one would expect that is should work somehow?

Thank you for your help!

Can you scan NetGear's interface to see whether the port that SE usually uses are opening ?. By the way, how much does a new NetGear device cost you ?

I am not sure if I understand your questions well but in the NAS incoming port connection is specified as:

- Protocol TCP
- Port 6300

see screenshot

I have the readynas102 that costs appr EUR 300 incl 2 3.5 SATA disks

Thank you

Please try to connect to the VPN management port of the NAS by web browser (with HTTP and HTTPS both).
