ADDITIONAL ETHERNET PORT RECOMMENDATION FOR PI / BONJOUR PROTOCOL QUESTION

Post by Crazystevo » Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:22 pm

Hi,

I have 3 questions if anyone could answer any of them I would greatly appreciate it... (Also if you see any part of my setup as stupid please call me out. This is my first time setting up a VPN. Trying to achieve a fast vpn.)

1.I was wondering which of these additional ethernet port for the raspberry pi do you recommend. I am going to use it for the VPN server because right now I only have 1 ethernet port and it is sluggish and it might be because I dont have it separated. I have heard I need to set it up with 1 NIC for the VPN and 1 for the local bridge to remove the protocol stacks.

2. For macs Bonjour service is used a lot but doesnt seem to work for my setup using softether vpn bridge mode with L2TP/IPSec. I thought since I am using bridged mode which is a layer 2 vpn it should have no issues with mac bonjour over the network?

3. I upgraded the mac machines recently from lion or something to High Sierra and it seems a little sluggish on VPN compared to before. Anyone experience this before or have any ideas on how to fix?
