Can't connect to the SoftEther Server through the internet

Post by AC23 » Fri Jul 02, 2021 1:30 pm

Hello, I'm sorry but like most of the posts here it's still "Error Code 1".

I read all the posts on the forum about this but none of them could give me an answer. I followed several videos/tutorials on the internet and all of them ended up with the same result.

I explain my problem, I have two computers with windows 10. The first is the server and the second is the client. When both are on the same wifi network, I can connect to the server and have access to my local network (except for the computer with softether, but this is not a problem because my goal is to access to the hardware connected to the server via ethernet without going through a router).

The problem is when the two computers are remote and are not connected on the same network. I simply can't connect to the server. When I ping cmd with the DNS: example.softether.net. I get a message that it will connect to the correct IPv4: XX.XX.XX.137, but all requests are lost 4/4.

I have no idea where my problem could come from?

PS I tried the 4 default ports but nothing changed

Did you open ports on the router? Otherwise you can’t connect from external network.

Hello everyone and thank you for your response. After some research I found that my phone operator does not allow a ping of the public IP address.

So I have reversed the server and the client. I can now ping the server. However I still can't connect.

Is it necessary to be able to ping both ways? (Server -> Client, Client -> Server)
And is it possible to bypass the restrictions of a telephone operator?

How do you know you have public ip? You probably only ping something at isp.

Connect any device/pc to the supposed public ip internet connection

Then try:
- ipconfig or ifconfig (linux) to see what is your ip
- open browser and visit whatismyip.com or .net

You must see the same ip to have public ip

Hello, to see my public IP address, I used one of the many sites like "whatismyip.com".

I then pinged this address:
- IP obtained on the mobile network: Impossible to ping it.
- IP obtained at home : I can do a ping test.

The "ipconfig" commands only give me the local ip address, right?

Does your pc have the same address as ip from whatismyip.com?

FORGET the ping! it has nothing to do with problem

If ipconfig gives you only local address then it is wrong, it will never work
like you expect

Could be you are behind the ISP provided router, but then you must make portforwarding

Still, you need to connect to such router if it has the same ip as ip from whatismyipcom
