Hardware (routers) with SE client or server?

Post by nobody12 » Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:56 pm

I found, that older (currently unavailable) versions of ubiquiti routers have an option to install SE, also There are routers from a company gl-inet where you can install SE.
Is there anything else whe SE is an option? I am looking for something which is proved working. Having an inexpensive device which will need a large amount of time to get it up and running is not an acceptable choice.
SE should install on most devices running openWRT. But what is a good choice?

TIA

I have a couple of GL.iNet routers but I do not see a native SE option. As you mentioned, when their firmware is replaced with OpenWrt, SE can be installed. I confirm that SE on a cheap GL-MT300N-V2 works fine and wrote about it on this forum here

Thank you Solo.
In your post you wrote you tried openWrt for testing. But have you had this running for a few month with SE running?

I still use it since the post in Feb 21, but not constantly. I modified the GL.iNet SE server for a field support device which a technician connects to a customer's router/LAN and then I can remotely access it on Layer 2 via either VPN Azure or 2 cascades (for backup/reliability) to our local SE servers. It works flawlessly, but again, this is not a 24/7 SE application.

Thank you. Sounds good.
Good enough to buy a test unit and try myself
