Encryption and Network

On the "Encryption and Network" window, there is a setting for the encryption type. To what component of SoftEther does the encryption apply? The blurb about the setting mentions SSL. Is the encryption type related to one of the VPN connections (i.e. OpenVPN, IPsec, etc.) or something else?
