Howto setup my VPN to allow access to the entire remote LAN?

Post by VK6IA » Tue May 24, 2022 9:10 am

Hi Guys,

I am a networking newbie and have a question about my setup.

I'm using Softether VPN server on a VPS running Windows 2016 server. I have a remote PC connected to the VPN via a windows 10 client.
It all works well, however, I can't connect to any of the devices on the remote LAN.

StarLink - Remote LAN 192.168.1.x using Windows 10 softether client
VPS - VPN 192.168.50.x and Internet 180.x.x.x 2016 Softether Server
FTTP - Internet Local LAN 192.168.0.x Windows 10 Softether client

How do I configure the setup so that I can access both LANS from each other? or even the remote LAN from the Local LAN?

Any suggestion would help as this is over my head!

Best Regards
Andrew

Hi, the simplest way to accomplish your objectives is with SoftEther Server and Bridges, described here. Specifically...
  • VPS - SoftEther Server, Local Bridge and SecureNAT disabled, Layer 3 Switch enabled
  • StarLink LAN PC - SoftEther Bridge, Local Bridge enabled
  • StarLink router - add static route to FTTP LAN, 192.168.0.0/24 via 192.168.1.254
  • FTTP LAN PC - SoftEther Bridge, Local Bridge enabled
  • FTTP router - add static route to StarLink LAN, 192.168.1.0/24 via 192.168.0.254
