Connected but error code 13

Hi there,

I have two laptops both on Windows 11, with the same version of SoftEther Client installed, on the same network, with the same config file.

One laptop connects fine and always has, the second one connects, is assigned an IP address but after about 5-10 seconds disconnects and gives an error code 13.

I've tried disabling my firewall, I've matched settings in network connections but still the problem persists.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I have two laptops both on Windows 11...
They may differ in update status, Microsoft admits latest Windows 11 update is breaking some VPNs.

Thank you for your response.

I just followed a guide to uninstall that update, but it turns out I don't have it installed.

Any other suggestions would be really appreciated.

Please post the SE server's log at the time of "error code 13" on the client.

Thank you for your response.

Interestingly, as I went to connect to the VPN to get a fresh log, this time I was hard wired and I didn't get the disconnect issue.

What setting could be different on my WiFi adapter to my Ethernet adapter?

It looks like poor wireless connection is causing VPN protocol timeouts.

Definitely not the case, my other laptop runs on same WiFi no issues, and also the problematic laptop connects perfectly fine wirelessly on my OpenVPN VPN.

Hi,

I have same issue with a client. Did you ever figure out the issue?
