no detected lan adapter

Post by davidjlv » Fri Apr 18, 2025 7:22 pm

Hi, I had Softether installed on my computer. After formatting it, I reinstalled it, but when configuring the server, the LAN adapter doesn't appear in the local bridge. I'm going crazy because I don't know what's going on. I've already reinstalled the network card drivers and reinstalled Softether, but nothing works.

Sorry, but I'm lost. Where do I find that code?

In Windows cmd, in ipconfig/all, I get the following:

You have only WiFi adapters which can not be bridged. Read again the advice on your first screenshot for alternative solutions.

If I already had this computer installed and working before formatting it, I have not changed the network card and it worked before

No need to repeat that.

There is no bridgeable network adapter now. If your PC has a LAN Ethernet NIC, you have to 're-activate' it or else use SecureNAT described in Client PC unable to reach shared directory on Server PC, where you'll notice your exact WiFi NIC and a comment... "SoftEther does not offer "Realtek RTL8821CE" bridge because this WiFi hardware does not support promiscuous mode."

Look at your ipconfig - no LAN NIC there, it's a Windows issue and has nothing to do with SoftEther.

If I buy a USB Ethernet adapter and connect it directly to the router with a cable, would this solve the problem?

Yes, as long as it is compatible with bridging. There are WiFis compatible https://whatsoftware.com/best-compatibl ... /view-all/ ...and there might be incompatible Ethernets. If it's for a laptop, it'd be a very awkward and unstable LAN anyway. Why can't you make the existing NIC work?

Hi, first of all, thanks for the answers. In response to your question... the best I can say is that I can't do it because it's probably beyond my knowledge, and I've been struggling with my laptop for days 😥, I mean... I can't do it, and I don't even know how to do it.
