IPsec on new Iphone ISP Restrictions

Post by djkeags » Wed May 14, 2025 3:11 pm

Hi all,
I want to do the following:
- Route my traffic to my Pi-Hole DNS server at home
- Access resources such as the printer, Home Assistant, Pi-Hole, FTP to my PC, and more.
- I simply want to connect my iPhone 13 to my home network via the IPSec protocol in the IOS Settings.

Problems:
1: ISP: AFRIHOST restricts home VPN'S according to the AUP(Uncapped Fibre (Pure Fibre)): https://www.afrihost.com/page/acceptable-use-policy
- I think I got around it by setting up my PiHole to do DNS via HTTPS by Cloudflare. https://docs.pi-hole.net/guides/dns/cloudflared/
2. I can't change any settings on my router.

I'm having an issue trying to connect my phone to connect to my server. Any advice/help/suggestions, and so on?
I'm quite new to this and learning on the way, I can't wait to get this working, really appreciate any help👍

That and presumably your ISP does not allow incoming connections, requires a gateway viewtopic.php?f=7&t=68157#p98420

It's a cheap solution viewtopic.php?f=7&t=68180#p98572

Thanks, I did some tests on my phone on a mobile carrier (MTN); I can ping my "VpnAzzure" or I believe it's a VPN gate, but I don't seem to be able to connect to my server via that gate for some reason. I believe, but to be honest, I'm not 100% that I have set everything correctly. I think that I have set it up and put all the correct details, but it does not work for some reason. I wonder if it's that group value on the set-up page on IOS... trying to connect gives me a pop-up that "The VPN server did not respond." even if I load a Certificate to my phone and use it.

VPN Azure works with SSTP and SoftEther protocols. Install 'SSTP Connect' app.

Thanks, I got the app and I FTP to my PC to get the certificates, I tried the server export certificate and my user certificate, but it's greyed out. What certificate should I use, and where can I find it? However, the user certificate did work when I manually put in the details, but it was unsuccessful.

If you can FTP there, you need no VPN Azure.

"I can't change any settings on my router", so how did you forward FTP's port?
