Please add a feature that only show servers which are accessable from local

In the VPN Gate public VPN Relay Servers list, is that possible to test the accessability to these servers from local automatically, and only show those accessable servers? In China, a lot of servers in the list have been banned by GFW. User have to try to connect the server one by one manually.

It’d be great to have a tool that tests the servers automatically and only lists the ones that work in China. That way, users can focus on the accessible options without all the manual testing!

Also interested in such feature. Saves a lot of time. Although this could also be done outside of the software (any python script to scrape the ips would do, really. I don't know how to write such system but I'm sure it will be less trouble than implementing it in the UI)

im the same person as johnmrston, the forum is lively. would be epic to do some maintainance on the software, Iran's situation is crazy. Today they shut down SSH completely and IPV6 is already nuked. a lot of users use vless protocols, but they're both slow and the people selling them are opportunists (unlike vpngate)

Greetings! I'm a user from Russia, and I'd also want to ask for this feature.
The gov. cracks down on VPN services and free information really hard here, and VPNGate is one of my last stands for connecting to the outside world, as it is barely even known here, and, thus, not blocked by the gov. yet, as it is probably considered to be a minor threat or not even used as it is too old and hard to use.

Unfortunately, the client software is very outdated and most of the servers in the list are inaccessible, + refreshing the list doesn't always work (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and is just showing the "loading" animation forever.).

It is quite hard to find those few actually accessible servers among a few hundred servers in the list that can't be connected to, and and the list doesn't even remember the position of the scroll between attempts, and if you sort it by connection speed and press "home" or "page up" to go back to the top of the list for best results, it loses the focus on the server that you've tried to connect to last time, and sometimes it's hard to remember on which server you've stopped while trying them one by one.

And the fact that servers abruptly disconnect quite often (getting shut down or otherwise?), and always unexpectedly, sometimes it brings a lot of trouble when you can't quickly connect to another working server and have to spend several minutes (sometimes even 10 minutes or more) trying to find another working server (if there are any left on the list at all, that is).

So yeah, a new / updated client (something like Happ or nekobox, maybe?) with an option to ping the servers locally and find out which ones are actually accessible and their actual ping from user location, and remove inaccessible servers from the list until the next manual list refresh request would be great.

Or maybe make a happ-compatible "subscription" URL for VPNGate servers, if possible?

Hello, if "outdated" refers to XP-like GUI then you are spellbound by "modern" rot of flat, border-less, contrast-less, blend-mess windows patchwork of W10/W11.

There is no reliable way of verifying local accessibility. Consider this example viewtopic.php?t=69366 where RKN's DPI examines the traffic and after a while blocks it. In short, ping check is inconclusive and traffic check is unfeasible.

I think I've stated my points prety clear. I never said it was about the design (I also hate what you've described as "mdern" and like old XP-like designs, however, better UI like in Happ or other modern VPNs would be better and easier to use for less tech-savvy users, I think) I was primarily talking about functionality - server list showing unavailable servers and closing every time after tryine one, so next time you have to open server list window again and often it would not show you which server you've tried last time, especially if you press Sort and then Page Up or Home to go to the top of the list, instead of giving you a permanent list of servers where you just click or double click them one by one to disconnect from one and connect to another one, inability to ping / speedtest individual servers, remove servers from teh list or Favorite them, etc. (again, look at modern apps like Happ, V2RayTun, Hiddify, FLClashX, Durev or Kibershield / nekobox as a reference to see how a list of servers should work to be easy to use - however, Durev is not the perfect example.)

RKN blocks servers and uses DPI - that's true, but that doesn't mean that you can't ping servers to see if you can connect to them or not - it works perfectly fine with any modern VPN client based on VLESS, Shadowsocks, Trojan, Hysteria and other subscriotions, and if the server is blocked by RKN it will return N/A for ping, and if it is accessable it will return something between 45-2500 ms as a ping result. If it can't return ping in less than 5000 ms it is most probably blocked or under a DDoS attack from RKN and can be skipped without wasting your time trying to connect to it, like ~95% of the servers on VPN Gate list. that's why an option to ping individual servers (or, rather, the whole list, to remove unavailable servers and sort the remaining ones by actual local ping and automatically connect to the best available server) is needed. Which will probabl yrequire a new, modern client app, or maybe some plugin (i;m not a coder, I don't know how it's done). And perhaps and Android app would be handy too, considering that many, if not most people use phones or tablets now, and many dont't even have a PC or laptop at all.

Or maybe VPN Gate needs a Subscrioption URL for modern clients or new protocol (like WireGuard, AmneziaWG, etc.)

Again, I'm not a techie, I don't know much about how it works on the inside, I can only judge from lots of other VPNs that I've already tried and that have those functions (but, unfortunately, are too CPU-heavy for my ancient laptop from over a decade ago).

That information is irrelevant. OpenVPN is an outdated app / protocol that has been discovered and blocked by RKN several years ago. It was the 1st or 2nd VPN client that I've ever used, anlong with SoftEther and Psiphon, until they got blocked and I had to switch to WireGuard, until it was also discovered and blocked, so I had to switch to Happ and other VLESS-supporting clients and Amnezia Free (Until Amnezia also was blocked and I had to get back to SoftEther, which turned out to be still partially working).

I don't think it's possible, because after every list refresh I get a different list of servers, and even while I'm connected to one it can disconnect and become unavailable at any moment (and it happens very often - sometimes several times within half an hour. Sometimes once in a day or two, though.). I don't know if they get shut down after the work shift at the university is over (this is a university project, right? So I assume the servers are phisycally located at university branches worldwide, like the ones I was looking after at my university?), ban or disconnect me for whatever reason or get discovered & blocked by RKN or whatever, but the fact is that I have to get a new list every now and then and search for new servers that I can connect to, so for best experience I need a way to automatically pull a fresh list of all online servers, ping them to see which ones I can actually connect to, remove the unaccessable ones, see which ones are best (ping & speed) and connect to best available option, or quickly switch to the 2nd best when the best one disconnects.

Making the list manually means that the entries in the list will become useless in a few minutes to a couple of days at best, so it's a waste of time & useless work making those lists every few hours.

Besides, I'll need to manually go through fresh lists to find working servers in them like every hour, and I'm not into wasting my time on doing it all the time.

It is definitely possible, don't you admire your compatriot's perseverance apparent in the above link? Anyway, as your overlords make it increasingly difficult, you have no choice. Actually, try submitting your case directly to the devs at https://github.com/SoftEtherVPN/SoftEtherVPN/issues but don't bet on it.

• open it up and sort by "uptime" descending
• delete bottom half (keep only top servers)
• export IP column and rename it to "PingInfoView_hosts.txt"
• get tiny Nirsoft's PingInfoView app
• copy your PingInfoView_hosts.txt to a folder with the app and run it
