scan available vpn server automatically
I tried using vpn gate, but frustratingly cannot find a working server (or I am not patient enough to try all of them one by one). The process is boring: open list -- select a server -- select tcp|udp -- wait for about 10~20s and fail -- click cancel -- open list again... That process could certainly be done automatically and show only working servers.

hello
It depends on the operating system and the vpn client that you are using.
under linux and openvpn it is possible to check 64 hosts at a time. This is a limit
of openvpn. To check the 180 hosts I have for the UK takes 3 ovpn files
1 through 64
65 through 128
129 through 192.
I have not taken the time to work out switching between the three ovpn files.
they just start back at the beginning if they do not connect to a host.
right now the number reliable vpngate hosts is small. most of Europe appears to be turned off.
hopefully, once the lock downs are lifted vpngate hosts will begin to come on line.

I am on Windows XP. It makes user desperate to try a list one by one and find none works. Not a usable product.

hello
I have not tried it, but you should be able to install cgywin and install openvpn.
You could use the cgywin bash shell to check 64 ovpn files at a time.
The 64 is a limit of openvpn.

I've tried but cygwin cannot be installed on windows xp, even the workaround to use cygwin time machine repository as https://morganwu277.github.io/2017/06/0 ... s-XP-2003/

Hello
Why are you still running Windows XP?
If your computer has a DVD drive attached to it.
download a live Linux DVD, knoppix is the best of them.
www.knoppix.net
Use the live Linux DVD to scan the vpngate servers of choice
to determine which ones are viable options.
Beware that with the Covid-19 crisis the internet and the vpngate hosts are
"flakey" to say the least.

Re: scan available vpn server automatically
Because of old hardware restrictions of my computer.
I've downloaded Knoppix DVD and "burned" it to a usb disk. Booted into linux desktop fine, but don't know what to do next. I think I should download a linux vpngate client, but the download page only has windows version. If your computer has a DVD drive attached to it.

Anyway, I think it is impractical to run a Linux system only for scanning available servers. If the feature exists in Linux, I see no reason that it cannot be ported to Windows.
