Maximum speed is around 30-35 Mbps on both sides have 1000 Mbps internet
Hello to all,
Scenario:
Office 1: I have Dell server and running Windows Server 2022 with 1GB fiber optic internet (1:1 GB local and international internet from ISP).
Office 2: there is internet also fiber optic 1GB download / 600 MB upload.
Issue:
I am getting internet speed test result 35mb download / 35mb upload when I connect via SoftEther VPN to the server(office 1) from my other office (office 2) with my desktop PC.
Notes:
- I tested on desktop pc via L2TP and via Softether client app
- secure NAT is enabled on SoftEther software on the server
- all public IP and local IP are static
- all connections are gigabit cable CAT6
- of course there is firewall both offices
- it is not Site-to-Site connection. It is client-to-server connection
I will be happy if someone can help me about my issue,
How can I get more speed on vpn connection ?
Should disable Secure NAT? If yes; then which ports I should add on the firewall device in port forwarding section?
or some different ideas ?
Many thanks!

Are you sure about 35Mbps? Because if it is 35MBps then you have OK speed. If you are sure then let's put aside SoftEther for now and do direct speed tests.
What do you get on the server and client from a browser on "speed test" sites?
Next, run NetCPS (port forward and allow in firewall) and quote "Avrg MPS".
For reference, on 1Gb LAN PCs I get around "Avrg MPS: 50" (500Mbs).

I will try NetCPS after working hours. I have active users on the server.
many thanks.

Re: Maximum speed is around 30-35 Mbps on both sides have 1000 Mbps internet
also you can check real speed through the server
then run
or
or you can use fast.com
use command
ctrl+c to cancel
change dns if you had probelm on speedtest
add
then ctrl+x and savey
Code: Select all
sudo apt install speedtest-cli
Code: Select all
speedtest
Code: Select all
speedtest --secure
Code: Select all
snap install fast
Code: Select all
fast
change dns if you had probelm on speedtest
Code: Select all
nano /etc/resolv.conf
Code: Select all
nameserver 1.1.1.1
nameserver 8.8.8.8

On server side
- ./vpncmd
- select 3. Use of VPN Tools
- TrafficServer
It start to listen for a client to connect
On client side
- ./vpncmd
- select 3. Use of VPN Tools
- TrafficClient
- it asks you for server IP address , give it the IP address and wait for a test
i will take near 30 minutes.
sample output of mine (it will be reported by client side)
