Cannot Connect With User-Made Profile with Port 443

Post by takeda_jp » Sat Aug 30, 2025 3:58 am

Greetings.

I am Japanese so my apologies if my English is problematic. I try to explain the best I can. I use English because I want everyone who can answer this be able to answer without language barrier.

For an unknown reason, I cannot connect with a user-made profile if the port is "443".

For example, if I choose one of the VPN Gate servers from the list:

219.100.10.10 with port 443

I can connect to and browse the net without any problem.
If I right-click and open the property of the VPN server profile "219.100.10.10" while being connected, I can see in the VPN server property, host is set to "219.100.10.10", port is set to "443", Hub name set to "VPNGATE" and user password set to annonymous with password "vpn".

But if I create a new VPN server profile with host "219.100.10.10", Port "443", Hub Name "VPNGATE" and user password set to annonymous with password "vpn" and then try to connect to the net with the profile, I cannot connect to the net, it doesn't matter how many times I try.

If I try to connect with another VPN server from the list, for example:

60.120.10.10 with port 1580

I can connect to and browse the net without any problem, and if I create a new VPN server profile with host "60.120.10.10", port "1580" and user password set to annonymous with password "vpn", the VPN hub name will be filled with "VPNGATE" automatically and once I create the profile, I can use it to connect to the net like I can use the VPN server 60.120.10.10 from the VPN server list.

My question is why do my user-made VPN server profiles with port "443" always fail to connect to the net? Why do my user-made VPN server profiles with ports other than "443" such as "1580" or "1280" can connect without any problem, but profiles that I create with port "443" cannot connect at all? It cannot even fill the VPN hub name with "VPNGATE" automatically, unlike when I create a profile with port "1580".

I can connect to any of the VPN servers with the port set to "443" in the property that I find in the VPN server lists without any problem, so why when I create a new VPN server profile with the same properties including its port "443", I cannot use that profile to connect the internet? I can connect to the net using VPN server profile with port "443" only if I connect to it from the VPN server list. But all profiles using port "443" that I create myself cannot connect to the net at all.

I am using third-party firewall, Simplewall, but SoftEther is already whitelisted and allowed to connect to the net. As I wrote before, I can connect with a new VPN server profile that I create myself which properties are copied over from a VPN server from the SoftEther VPN servers list but only if the port is any number other than "443".

Is there anyone who can help me with this problem?

Thank you for the information and help.

219.100.10.10 is offline ATM, check https://www.vpngate.net/en/ incl. "You can use CSV List..."
User-Made Profiles work for me on port 443 for all active VPNGATE servers.

In any case, use this profile format:
name: public-vpn-xxx
host: public-vpn-xxx.opengw.net
port: 443
vhub: VPNGATE
user: vpn
pass: vpn
