Hi All. First post... :)
I have been using SE for quite a long time, and try to keep up with the happenings with the project. Last notable update I saw was for tunnel-crack. Is the project basically in a critical maintenance mode only now (i.e. just vulnerability and security fixes)?
I've been swimming through the latest source for 4.44 9807, as I want to add some features around security hardening and stealth'ing the server, i.e. reducing its visibility to bad actors, etc. I was a Network Engineer for many years, and my C++ is still ok, so I'm not afraid of doing a custom build. Funny enough, I cut my teeth on C++ with VS2008 back in the day, which is what SE is still built on, lol. If my effort yield any solid results, is it worth submitting to the core developers?
Thanks for any info or insights!

New features and their developers go there but you will not compile SE-DE v5 with VS2008.

I am familiar with that page, but it seems focused on DE only. DE has been around for quite some time as well, but I dont think theres a current general public build/release based on it, is there?
While I know of github, I've never used it from a developer perspective, so I'm not really familiar with the process. Not unwilling to learn, but if the project is only in a development/research state these days, submitting code/patches is only academic.
