The vpn was working just fine until 5 hours ago. After I booted into Windows this time, suddenly the SoftEther VPN doesn't show its tray icon and cannot be started at all. It will show the dialog box says :
"Can't connect to the VPN client"
I tried :
- services.msc : The Soft Ether VPN service is running.
- uninstall current version, then download the latest version (Sep 20, 2016)
- restart tcp/ip stack : http://www.velocitymicro.com/SupportArt ... le_959.php
None of them work.

Is there anything useful in the Windows Applicaton Event logs?

I think some security software blocks VPN client port (9930) or other application uses the port.
