Not L2TP/OpenVPN when using Cluster (loadbalancing) mode
Hello,
I have 4 dedicated server than I use as Remote Access VPN.
As I would like to balance load on all 4 servers, I configured 1 SoftEther server as Controller+Cluster and all 3 others as clusters.
It works perfectly using SoftEther VPN Client but people cannot use L2TP/IPSec or OpenVPN.
In my VPN server manager, IPsec/L2TP and OpenVPN/MS-SSTP buttons are greyed and so I can't use them.
I use 1 Static Virtual HUB.
How can I fix it ?
Thanks in advance.

IPsec and OpenVPN or other protocols don't support redirecting.
So, Protocols except SoftEther VPN client can't be used in clustering mode.

What's the easiest way to start a 2nd vpnserver on same dedicated server in order to allow to connect with other protocols?

Please use VPN server service in User-mode.
http://www.softether.org/4-docs/1-manua ... ting_Modes
User mode VPN server can run 2 or more in a server.
Please note port numbers do not conflict.

Were you able to find a solution to this. I am also trying to find out how can we use non SoftEther VPN clients talking to a site where I am planning to deploy more than one SoftEther VPN servers.

SoftEther does not support L2TP/OPVN in clustering mode. What solution are you looking for?

I was wondering if someone could have setup a LVS or any other NLB before the SoftEther VPN Server.

We dallied with L2TP several months ago. Then we had used a simple capacity planner and after realized that we need just one powerful server for L2TP connections to handle approx 1K connections/hour. CPU load is 28%.

Re: Not L2TP/OpenVPN when using Cluster (loadbalancing) mode
Thanks for a reply. I have a mixture of clients some with SSL and some with IPSec and I don't have a powerful server too. I tried to put a server depending upon the load. As you know, when in cluster we can't use no softether clients. This seems to be a bottle neck for me because of which I am not able to use SoftEther although it is a great product.
I am wondering if I can't use Cluster, can I use more than one SoftEther VPN server behind a LVS operating in direct tunneling mode ?
Has anyone tried this, should not this work??

Don't get me wrong but "NLB for L2TP" sounds ridiculous for me nowadays :-)
Why don't you want to use DNS RR?

Thanks, I will give DNS RR a try.
I was thinking if I can use a SoftEther VPN servers with LVS in Directing Routing mode. Just wondering if anyone has tried this who can help.
