Hello,
I would like to know if you enter DNS protection in the configuration files for OpenVpn? At the moment, by checking the website https://www.dnsleaktest.com/
DNS queries are open, it results from the analysis on the above link

Re: DNS LEAK PROTECTION
Im not exactly sure what you mean by DNS protection.
I use cloud cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1)... If you set the nameserver address on your router, pc, and on softether vpnserver there is no way your ISP DNS could leak.
OpenVPN pushes the DNS name server through DHCP from VPN Server. The setting is in Server Manager<Manage Virtual Hub<Virtual NAT and Virtual DHCP (Secure NAT<Secure NAT Configuration<DNS Server Address 1 & 2

Re: DNS LEAK PROTECTION
I will present what dns protection is like on the example of protonvpn and nordvpn:
ProtonVpn - DNS Leak Prevention - ProtonVPN doesn't just protect your browsing traffic, we also protect your DNS queries. By routing your DNS queries through the encrypted tunnel and not relying on third party DNS providers, we ensure that your browsing activity cannot be exposed by leaks from DNS queries;
NordVpn - https://nordvpn.com/features/dns-leak-test/
that's what I wanted to do with this protection.
In that case, you can download the config file from http://www.vpngate.net/en/
can you somehow enable the protection of DNS queries?

Better protection can be gain with a trusted vpn. You can add it to the server for secure experience.

Re: DNS LEAK PROTECTION
DNS leak protection is a confluence of a lot of things, but generally it's possible to edit OpenVPN config files to protect you from leaks. There are some tutorials out there, like this one: https://www.vpn-service.org/edit-your-o ... dns-leaks/
But if you want full protection for your DNS queries, you might have to go further than config files. Anything from having IPV6 turned on, to having Teredo active (if you're on Windows), to having an ISP that uses transparent name servers can all lead to your DNS queries leaking.

Also, yes, this is a good one -- as shoaibiqbal said a paid VPN is better, and if you're especially concerned about DNS leaks you should also look for a VPN that has its own DNS server so all queries pass within the VPN tunnel, instead of getting tossed to a third-party.marcin wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 10:35 pmProtonVpn - DNS Leak Prevention - ProtonVPN doesn't just protect your browsing traffic, we also protect your DNS queries.
