Giant dump files
Hi all,
First time posting here ^^;
So as the title says, I found out that SoftEther VPN Client had been creating these dump files, which are each ~150 MB, but then in large quantities.
How large? Well, it's about 1.4 TB when I finally found what the heck was eating up my disk space.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
Thanks,

Re: Giant dump files
take a look into your logging settings. You might have enabled full package logging. Those go into the install sub folders.

Hi drewex, thanks for the reply.
Where can I find that setting? Is it the client setting or the specific VPN setting?
Thanks!

Re: Giant dump files
I completely disabled logging with "chattr +i"
applied on security_log, package_log, server_log - no single file created afterwards
I use OrangePiZero and package "chattr" doesnot exist, so I put microSD card into UBUNTU PC and changed it there, it works!
No idea how to make it with NOR based devices ... any idea?

Re: Giant dump files
Hi all,
Sorry to get back super late on this, but here are some example of the file names:
dump_20190109_154354.dmp
dump_20181230_053125.dmp
dump_20181230_042839.dmp
Each file is around 150 MB
Thanks.

Re: Giant dump files
They are not files output by SoftEther VPN.
I think it is a crash dump generated by the OS.
Is there record of application crash in the event log?

Re: Giant dump files
I didn't find any error that's related to SoftEther software during the time the files are created...
The last batch of files seems to have been around 12/30~1/2, and nothing new until I deleted the files on 1/10.
