IP not assigned to Softether VPN clients
Hi,
I have installed SoftEtherVPN Server on Windows Server 2012 R2(on Vmware Esxi Host). Client is installed on Windows 7.
VPN Client can connect. but IP not assigned by DHCP
configured with local bridge. SecureNAT disabled.
Added second NIC with no IP
Additional details:
Local bridge is added, pointed to second NIC with no IP(VMXNET3)
1st Virtual network adapter:Intel type:e100e
Promiscuous mode: Allowed
Any suggestions are appreciated!
With best regards,
azizbekoff

No as described in Softethernet manual "No Protocol Stack is Used for the Local Bridge Network Adapter" Only selected on Second NIC SoftEther Lightweight Network protocol

In the network the second NIC connects to, is there a DHCP server? I should ask this way.
Also, is the second NIC in promisc mode too?

I don’t understand. What do you mean by promisc mode at vlan level? If the nic is virtualized, promisc mode needs to be applied from the top level.

Yes you can "separate" it. Again, remove local bridge (the one within SE) and enable SecureNAT, and SE clients will get proper DHCP assignments.
Next, enable Virtual NAT, and SE clients will get connectivity.

Hi please check the attacehmen when bridged and bridged removed.and let me know how to make the adapter workable without bridge.solo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 5:46 pmYes you can "separate" it. Hello, I wrote "remove local bridge (the one within SE) and enable SecureNAT", and it will work for sure.kaleem333 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 6:50 pmHi please check the attacehmen when bridged and bridged removed.and let me know how to make the adapter workable without bridge.
Incidentally, if you enable "MAC Address Spoofing" in advanced settings of the virtual NIC, your current config may work too.

Re: IP not assigned to Softether VPN clients
Yes SecureNAT is great. If you insist on a bridged connection then a vNIC with "MAC Address Spoofing" and NIC in promiscuous mode are required. That's why.
Either bridge to the LAN adapter or try a better WiFi adapter.
